Mama Said Eat Your Lima Beans!

I spent my day crafting with my friend Dave.  She is always looking for inexpensive and creative ways to spruce up her apartment.  We spent about 3 hours sitting on my kitchen floor gluing dried Lima beans to a 17"x17" wood board with a hot glue gun.  It was a very tedious process, but it went by quickly because we were singing along to music from your high school days!  We would have finished tonight, but we ran out of lima beans.  I'm not sure how it is going to turn out, but I am very excited to see the final product.  I promise to post a picture when we finish.  So for now, I leave you with a picture of a small portion of the lima bean board.

Top Ten Photo!

I am so excited!  When I checked Flickr this morning, I found a message on the Batman photo I took last week.  It read:

"Congratulations your photo was featured on the MCP blog as one of this weeks top ten"

I was so unbelievable excited.  I sat on the edge of the bed and stared at my husband until he woke up.  I told him my good news before he could wipe the crud out of his eyes.  I have been sporting a giant smile across my face today!  It feels so good to have to have something I have been working so hard on recognized.  I still can't believe it was chosen for the top 10 out of thousands of entries.

In other news...

Today I had the opportunity to take photos of my friend Barb's twin girls, Molly and Carly.  I was so excited to see them.  The last time I saw them in person, they were 3 months and looked like this:

Now,  they are turning 1 year old in a couple of weeks.

Just look at them now. So gorgeous!

Carly
Look at those beautiful eyes!

Molly
I love the little drop of drool on her lip!

I hope I didn't mix them up.

Both of them loved the camera, but it was this picture that really made me smile.

When Life Gives Me Lemons... I Take Pictures of Them

Today, during my regularly scheduled blog hopping,  I came across several photographs of fruits and vegetables.  Coincidentally, the Digital Photography School Weekly Challenge is food photography.  So, I took the idea and ran with it.  I spent my afternoon photographing lemons.  Unfortunately, when I decided to start working on the photos, all of the lovely natural sunlight was gone.  I decided to setup my shoot indoors and was forced to use an artificial light source.  I used my 100 mm macro lens because I really wanted to capture the detail in the lemon.  I managed to get several shots that I really liked.

Here are my favorite three.

I saved the 4th picture for my photo of the day!

The Pioneer Woman Assignment

The theme for this assignment: Sisters!

I submitted a couple of photographs for the assignment this week, but never posted them here.  The photo I am submitting today features older and beautiful sister Nia.  I took this photo back in January when I was just starting my 365.  She kindly agreed to be my model for the day.  She loves having her picture taken!

Here is some general info about my sister:

She is 30yrs.
She is a scorpio (Virgos are more awesome)
She lives in MD along with the rest of my family.
She is very skilled at hairdressing
We do the same goofy dances
She gets on my nerves, but makes me laugh
She is a cancer survivor.  She has been cancer free for over 2 years.
We argue a lot, but mostly because I am a stubborn smart ass.
She has a 7 year old son who is so annoying, but I love him to death.
I don't always admit it, but I miss her terribly!

I love you heffa!

Photoshop...

I spent all day trying to figure out how to load actions on Photoshop.  I've had absolutely no success.  I have followed the directions step by step...
Well, as far as I could.
I can only get to the part where the instruction tell you to click on Photoshop 9.  It then instructs me to click on the Photo creations folder, but I don't have that for some reason. It also says to rename my mediadatabase, which is no where to be found.
*Sigh*

A friend of mine tried to help as well.  She is very familiar with Photoshop, but could not help me.  I think I just may have to call Adobe tech support tomorrow.  I wasted my whole day trying to figure, I didn't take a picture until 9pm.  My poor husband spent time trying to help me find a picture instead of watching the basketball game.  I owe him one!

Relax

My husband and dog hanging out in a chair.

I though that leaving the dog's and my husband's upper body out of the picture made it more interesting.  The lines created by my husbands legs leads the eye up to Iggy's (the dog) legs.
